Well there's not much to say tonight. I'm in Jackson, Mississippi and this place creeps me out. I'm not sure if its the weather as we had a thunderstorm last night which broke the 30 degree temps and cooled everything down considerably. It's been overcast and rainy all day and I got lost half a dozen times in this place. It looks like the creators of GTA used this place to model their virtual world from. Even the people and some of the clapped out old cars all look like they belong in GTA. Very weird feeling and for once I'll be really happy to see the back of somewhere. I'm not frightened exactly but I just feel really uneasy here. I was talking to a friend earlier who mentioned that there are a lot of voodoo practitioners here in Mississippi so I dunno if that's why I'm getting bad vibes or what. I'll just be very glad to move on to the next town.
I'll be crossing the border again tomorrow and heading into Alabama. Either Tuscaloosa or Birmingham will be my stop but I think it will be Tuscaloosa just because I like the name. We'll see. So not much to report today because it's been pretty uneventful apart from the rain and this creepy place. I'm not really going to have a look around tomorrow as I kinda want to get out of here asap. I did stop in a really cute little place called Vickersburg but the weather really started to come in and I'm a little tempted to go back and have a look if the weather is nice tomorrow. There's a Coca Cola museum there too somewhere. It's some kind of historic town so it would be worth a look. But only if the weather is okay otherwise I'm putting this place in my rear view mirror.
Oh one other observation that I forgot to mention earlier. Icy bridges. Every bridge along the highway has a sign before it that says "Bridge may form ice in cold weather" or words to that effect. EVERY bridge. I'm wondering what they make their bridges out of that they get so icy? Surely they would have twigged to that fact and perhaps started constructing the bridges out of some other material? And that goes for all the states I've been to so far which is Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and now Mississippi. Something to ponder if you will.
