St Augustine and Ponte Vedra

Today I drove down to St Augustine and had a look around. It's a cute little seaside town chocked full of historical buildings and of course the usual touristy stuff. I had to check out the Pirate and Treasure Museum which was brilliant. Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to take pics so you'll have to check out their website if you want to take a look. It was definitely worth the money and had some really cool exhibits and lots of interactive stuff. It even houses one of the 2 authentic Jolly Roger flags.

After the Pirate and Treasure Museum I headed across the road to visit the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument which is a great shaped fort.

thats not a knife.... ;}

This is a model of the fort shape

 And on the way back to Jacksonville I stopped at the Ponte Vedra beach and yay actual waves! This is more like the Aussie beaches with almost no one on the beach and high dunes. Ponte Vedra is home to lots of expensive looking beach homes which line the beach. Some nice ones, some absolutely bloody hideous ones. At least the view would be nice!

Waves!
